One of many Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island levels

Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island is a platforming game by Nintendo. It was originally released for the SNES in 1995.

It was also ported to the Game Boy Advance, under the name Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3. It contains six additional levels and various minor changes to the game's engine (such as modified sound effects), but is overall nearly identical.

A notable aspect of Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island is that is uses the Super FX 2 chip which allows sprite scaling, polygons and pre 32 bit graphics. The graphical style of the game is unique as the graphics give the players the perception that the graphics were made from crayons.

Yoshi's Island hacking[]

This wiki mainly revolves around Yoshi's Island ROM hacking.

YI hacking is generally accomplished using Golden Egg. Before Golden Egg, Eggvine was the main level editor.

The standard ROM version used for Yoshi's Island hacking is a Super Mario World 2 Yoshi's Island (v1.0) (U) ROM (the exact title may vary slightly). Golden Egg supports both headered and headerless ROMs, but other tools generally require a headered ROM.
